Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
1. Assist qualified staff with patient care assessments and implementation of care plans, undertaking routine tasks to support patient wellbeing, dignity, and treatment.
2. Provide practical support and responsive care for patients with personal needs such as dressing, bathing, and toileting, ensuring compliance with procedures and healthcare legislation.
3. Monitor patient wellbeing, promptly referring any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences to senior staff and documenting appropriately.
4. Perform delegated interventions following training and competency achievement, including observation, patient engagement, escorting on leave, and de-escalation of violence and aggression.
5. Contribute to a team approach in patient care alongside multidisciplinary team members.
6. Participate in ward meetings and other relevant meetings as required.
7. Assist in maintaining stock levels, including pharmaceuticals.
8. Support ward cleanliness and tidiness, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
9. Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously.
10. Promote a supportive environment that meets the needs of patients, relatives, and carers.
11. Ensure patients receive a quality service that offers value for money.
12. Handle telephone and personal inquiries courteously and greet visitors warmly.
Job Purpose
As a vital member of the ward team, support and assist Registered Nurses with patient assessment, planning, and care implementation. Deliver prescribed care, liaise with families as appropriate, and contribute to a positive care environment.
