Bidding for this role is open; this is a residential care/community support position focused on enabling autistic people to engage in activities they enjoy and develop independent living skills.


Overview

This is a rewarding role where you will be supporting autistic people with a variety of activities, helping them with personal care, community integration and managing anxieties that may be expressed through distressing behaviour. No experience is necessary as full training is provided. We are looking for someone with the right attitude and values to develop their skills with us. Prior experience in care roles or health and social care is relevant but not required.


Responsibilities

* To ensure high standards of professional care and practice for service users, including independent living, physical, cultural, social, learning, vocational, recreational and emotional needs.
* To maintain high standards of cleanliness across the setting, mindful of IPC measures.
* Adhere to developing positive working relationships with service users, families and team members, and know your own limitations and seek support when required.
* Familiarise with Autism East Midlands systems and processes to deliver high standards of care and support.
* Ensure all records you maintain are up to date, secure and confidential, adhering to GDPR.
* Liaise with families, the clinical team and external agencies professionally and record appropriately within confidentiality.
* Develop understanding of autism and implement it in practice.
* Develop understanding of CALM and Positive Behaviour Support and embed within the service.
* Complete all elements of the Care Certificate and mandatory training.
* Access internal IT systems regularly and log incidents on reporting systems.
* Ensure compliance with service financial procedures.
* Work flexibly as required by the rota and contract terms, as directed by your manager.
* Communicate effectively within the team to ensure continuity of care.
* Develop understanding of communication methods for those supported in the service.
* Work in a safe way, following individual support plans, risk assessments and company policies and procedures.
* Support service users with personal care when required and provide support in line with individual support plans.
* Adhere to the Autism East Midlands Code of Conduct.


Qualifications and requirements

* No specific experience required; full training will be provided.
* Experience as a support worker, care assistant, nursery assistant or personal care assistant is beneficial, as is NHS/healthcare or social care experience.
* 48+ hours per week availability may be restricted by advert’s terms; check eligibility for sponsorships as stated in the posting.
* Ability to work a rolling rota, including early, late, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.
