Conveyancing Director / Head of Office – Bristol
Salary: £85,000 – £110,000 + Team Bonus
Location: Bristol (New Office Launch)
A high-performing, PE-backed property law firm is launching a new office in Bristol and is seeking a Conveyancing Director to lead it.
This is a rare opportunity to be the face of a new office, build a team from the ground up and replicate the success already achieved in London and other locations. There is immediate volume available – the infrastructure, introducer relationships and operational support are already in place.
The Opportunity
The incoming Director will head up the Bristol office, building and leading a residential conveyancing team with autonomy and commercial freedom. This is more than a fee-earning role – it is a genuine leadership and growth opportunity.
You will:
Lead and grow the Bristol office
Recruit and develop your own team
Oversee performance, compliance and service standards
Maintain a manageable personal caseload (typically 40–50 files per month initially)
Work closely with senior leadership on growth strategy
There is substantial work ready to be serviced, including established introducer relationships with national agents and mortgage brokers. The firm currently turns away a significant proportion of new enquiries, so there is no requirement to bring a following.
The Firm
This is a top-tier conveyancing business with strong profit performance and private equity backing. The group includes specialist divisions and its own legal tech capability, employing a dedicated in-house development team to continuously enhance systems and client experience.
The firm operates at scale (c. 450 matters per month across offices), with an average fee of £2,500 per case, and regularly exceeds targets. London-based leadership has demonstrated the earning potential of the model, with substantial bonus payouts at Director level.
There is also:
A dedicated remote support team
Established new build capability
Structured operational and new business support
Investment in proprietary software layered over the core CMS
A culture of promoting from within – many Directors progressed from junior roles
Salary & Bonus
£85,000 – £110,000 basic salary
Office-wide bonus structure (team-based)
When office targets are hit, all team members receive a percentage-based bonus aligned to seniority
Stretch targets unlock additional shared bonuses
Significant earning potential demonstrated across the group
Working Culture & Flexibility
The firm offers a genuinely flexible working model post-probation, including:
Hybrid working
9-day fortnight option
Flexible team-led working patterns
Autonomy to structure your own office culture
This is a leadership role, so flexibility will operate alongside responsibility for office performance and team cohesion.
The Ideal Candidate
Experienced residential conveyancing leader (qualification preferred but not essential)
Strong technical grounding in freehold and leasehold transactions
Experience supervising or managing a team
Commercially driven and comfortable working in a volume environment
Ambitious and motivated to build and scale a new office
This is a standout opportunity for a conveyancing leader who wants more than a traditional Director title. With immediate workflow, introducer pipelines, operational support and private equity backing, Bristol has the potential to become a flagship office.
