Overview
Budwood, a part of Polaris Community, provides Residential Care and Support to children and young people with emotional behavioural difficulties, social and emotional mental health needs. Our young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and the aim is to provide a stable, supportive home with high levels of guidance to keep them safe and help them transition to independence and adulthood.
We are looking for passionate Residential Support Workers to join one of our homes in Dorchester. You will be part of a team delivering flexible, individual care packages towards all our children and young people. All staff are trained in Developmental Trauma and therapeutic parenting to aid your understanding and ability to provide the best support possible.
Main Duties and Requirements
* Experience of working with children and young people and understanding the issues they face in care
* Flexibility in availability; you will work 7 x 24 hour shifts including sleep ins over a 3 week rotation (09:00am–09:30am following day)
* Promoting, safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our young people
* Establishing and maintaining positive, trusting relationships with our young people
* Work well as part of a team and be able to accept direction and guidance
* Encouraging the development of the individual interests of our young people
* Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to work towards upgrading to Level 4 Diploma
* Have a full UK driving licence and car as this role involves travel
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Be willing to learn
* Be able to work well as part of a small team
* Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check; DBS cost paid by Budwood
* Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work is advantageous
