What You’ll Be Doing:
* Design & Analysis: Conduct analysis and design of complex structures in line with Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine construction.
* Regulatory Expertise: Apply your knowledge of regulations that extend beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, Weld Specifications, and Geometric Tolerance.
* Technical Proficiency: Utilize computer-based analytical methods, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and interpreting engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Manufacturing Support: Provide assistance for the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation of submarine structures, modules, and components.
* Fast-Paced Environment: Contribute your expertise in facility and site constraints related to shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of hull units and structural components.
* Technical Deliverables: Assist in developing concept drawings, layouts, and other technical deliverables, ensuring alignment with project schedules, targets, and budget constraints.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* Engineering Degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) or HND with extensive experience in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering.
* Experience in Hand Analysis and Design Techniques, including report writing.
* Understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and lifting handling (LOLER).
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a production environment, particularly in marine production.
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, MathCAD, and Excel.

The Production Engineering Department Team:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of designers and engineers. You’ll play a crucial role in a rapidly growing team on a new program, conducting engineering assessments to support the build process. Working closely with the design team, you will contribute to the development of equipment and provide operational and production support for the delivery of safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for all submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
