The Innovation Delivery Group (IDG) is seeking a Project Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work on a variety of projects across the IDG portfolio, collaborating closely with colleagues from Projects and Programme Delivery.
Your Responsibilities include:
* Managing the entire project delivery process for our client sponsors.
* Applying strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management to ensure high-quality project delivery on time and within budget.
* Collaborating with suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, and partners to achieve successful outcomes.
* Monitoring and forecasting expenditure, ensuring compliance with EA guidance.
* Using project management tools to develop and maintain business cases, trackers, and risk registers.
* Administering contracts with supply chain in accordance with framework policy.
* Making project decisions supported by the Project Executive and informed by technical leads, following governance procedures, project assurance, and legislation.
All team members are required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties, which are essential parts of working for the Environment Agency to support communities and protect the environment. Further information can be found in the candidate pack.
The Team
The IDG specializes in delivering complex national projects that drive innovation, manage risk, and support the Environment Agency’s 2025 action plan. The group includes over 50 professionals and experts across disciplines including water, environment, estates, and carbon reduction.
Experience/Skills Required
Essential:
* Experience in project and contract management within engineering, construction, or flood & coastal risk management.
* A degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
* Proven track record of delivering results on technically challenging projects.
* Commercial experience, including procurement and contract management.
* Experience in project financial management and cost forecasting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Project.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Experience in report writing, including business cases.
* Risk management experience.
* Health and Safety competence.
Desirable:
* Chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, or APM.
* Experience with NEC contracts.
* CDM X63 certification.
* Experience in preparing Scope of Services for appraisal contracts.
* Project management qualifications like Prince2 or APM.
