Solihull Council is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Senior Library Assistant to join our team at Dickens Heath Community Library.
Libraries in Solihull have evolved into vibrant, information hubs that serve the whole community. As a Senior Library Assistant, you will be at the heart of delivering and promoting a wide range of services to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
* Respond to customer enquiries and provide support in accessing library resources and digital technology
* Deliver engaging library-based activities for a diverse audience, including children and young people
* Supervise small teams of staff and contribute to the smooth running of the library
* Promote the library as a welcoming and inclusive space for learning, creativity, and community engagement
What We’re Looking For:
While previous experience in a library setting is desirable, what matters most is your strong background in face-to-face customer service and your ability to:
* Demonstrate an understanding of the role libraries play in the community
* Work effectively as part of a team
* Use initiative and problem-solving skills to handle complex customer enquiries
* Confidently use digital and information technology
* Deliver activities tailored to a range of audiences
* Work Saturdays and adopt a flexible approach to hours and location
Although this role is based at Dickens Heath, you may be required to work across other libraries in the borough to meet service needs.
