About the Role
We are looking for a Transport Modeller and Data Analyst. You will ideally have experience in Transport Modelling (preferably within aviation) and may be looking to step up to a mid-level position. You will have strong analytical skills and a desire to generate insights and drive improvement through modelling and data analysis. The role can be based in Farnborough, Hampshire (UK) or Zilina (Slovakia) and suits an ambitious candidate. You would join a small group of passionate industry experts within a well-established aviation consultancy.
As a Transport Modelling Consultant, you will undertake a range of roles on local, national and international projects. Projects are multidisciplinary and may involve transport planning, modelling and economics, as well as operational or safety assessments, feasibility studies, benchmarking and strategic consulting. You will work under the guidance of senior colleagues on aviation-related planning studies and operational performance assessments. Examples of responsibilities include:
* Defining the scope of fast time simulation models, development methods, model calibration/validation processes and outputs
* Data gathering, validation and pre-processing for fast time simulation models (formats include .csv, .xml, .json)
* Development, calibration, validation and testing of airport and airspace fast time simulation models using aviation modelling software
* Running fast time simulations and analyzing results
* Contributing to airport/airspace masterplans, capacity studies and operational assessments
* Developing and maintaining project databases
* Developing PowerBI dashboards focused on aviation performance metrics
* Creating interfaces between Egis’ airport/airspace simulation tools and databases
* Writing technical reports and presentations
* Attending and presenting at design meetings and other project meetings
* Supporting marketing and business development activities including input to tenders
What we need from you
* A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, with preference for an air transport related qualification
* Basic understanding of transport modelling concepts (e.g. fast time simulations)
* Excellent numerical skills, including experience of using complex spreadsheets and databases
* A high sense of accountability with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work
* Ability to manage own work with inputs from others to time and budget
* Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to present technical work to non-technical audiences
* Ability to work with a range of project stakeholders, contractors and clients
* Willingness to undertake international travel and commissions overseas, potentially for extended periods
Desirable skills/experience
* Experience with airport/airspace simulation software (e.g. AirTOp, NEST, REDIM, AEDT, INM, EDMS or others)
* Experience in airfield and/or terminal operations
* Experience with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and data types (ESRI shapefiles, KML)
* Experience with Microsoft SQL or MySQL
* Experience with pivot tables and VBA macros
* Basic familiarity with XML schemas
* Experience with Python or R
* Professional membership to a relevant professional body
