This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a background in supporting children with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Job Overview: As a SEND Instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored educational programmes that promote both academic achievement and emotional well-being. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each pupil receives personalised support aligned with their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Your expertise will help create a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment where all learners can thrive. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual EHCP targets of each pupil. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning and emotional safety. Collaborate closely with SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external professionals to develop and implement effective support strategies. Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and behaviour management, employing appropriate techniques and interventions. Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress regularly, providing feedback to inform ongoing support and intervention plans. Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies to promote positive behaviour and engagement. Person Specification: Proven experience working within SEND settings or alternative provisions. Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs. Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to foster a calm, supportive classroom environment. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient approach. Relevant qualifications such as QTS, HLTA, PTLLS, or an education-related degree are desirable but not essential. Training in Team-Teach, Makaton, PECS, or similar communication and behaviour management strategies is highly advantageous. Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience working with children and young people with complex learning needs. Knowledge of SEN legislation and safeguarding policies. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs.
