The job itself
Are you an experienced social work practitioner with experience of early help work, looking for a unique role? East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Quality of Practice Advanced Practitioner to play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality early help services are delivered to children, young people and their families.
This is a fixed term post for twelve months to support the Quality of Practice activity within the Family Help service. The post-holder will implement our Quality of Practice Framework, including but not exclusively, the completion of Reflective Space activity (audits) and analysing the outcome of activity to feed into wider learning and development.
This is an ideal opportunity for practitioners seeking a change, who are passionate about best practice and effective early intervention, and those who want to be part of ensuring the successful implementation of the new Family Help model.
About Us
At East Riding, we are committed to creating and sustaining the conditions for outstanding social work and leadership to flourish. As a 'good' Local Authority, we believe in pushing boundaries and delivering excellence for children and families. Our innovative approach includes offering unique roles that provide our social workers with diverse experiences and opportunities for professional growth.
The Role
As a Quality of Practice Practitioner (Family Help) you will focus on supporting the quality assurance of our work in early help services, to support high quality practice that makes a real difference in the lives of children, young people and families, as we move into our redesigned Family Help model.
This role comes at a pivotal time as national reforms in children’s social care, including the Stable Homes, Built on Love strategy, are reshaping how services are delivered across the country. East Riding is committed to aligning its Family Help model with these reforms - placing relationships, early intervention, and family-led solutions at the heart of our approach.
Although the focus of your day-to-day work will be family help, your role will sit alongside the other quality of practice advanced practitioners, and it is anticipated that work will align as part of the team.
This is a fixed term post for 12-months, to provide assurance and oversight in relation to family help work as we roll-out the redesigned model, with a focus on whole family support, the quality of step-across and work and early support assessments. This will ensure the service achieves the key elements of the family help model as part of the social care reforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate high-quality, relational, reflective discussions with practitioners, supporting them to reflect on their interventions with children, young people and their families, celebrating best practice and considering how interventions could be delivered differently to shape and influence future service delivery.
* Undertake detail-orientated quality assurance of our intervention with families, recognising that the performance data only tells part of the 'practice story', placing greater emphasis on quality of practice.
* Work one-to-one with practitioners or with teams and larger groups to build an understanding of areas of best practice and development. You will be responsible for ensuring that practice is in keeping with the local authority practice standards.
* Seek out information from multiple sources including electronic systems, and children, young people and their networks to understand the impact of practice.
* You will be responsible for undertaking quality of practice activities to meet service demands and as part of a planned monthly cycle of activity, extracting themes and patterns to demonstrate what needs to happen to drive performance, reporting to the Quality of Practice Manager. Your findings will contribute to the East Riding of Yorkshire's commitment to a cycle of continuous learning and improvement.
