Salary: £47,639 - £56,392. Hours: 36 per week.

Role Overview
As part of its drive to decarbonise, the City of Edinburgh Council is recruiting a dynamic, client‑focused, personable, and technically strong Building Surveyor with strong people, design, project, and contract management experience. You will lead the design and implementation of high‑quality construction projects and liaise with internal and external design teams.
The City of Edinburgh Council is a pioneer in adopting low and zero carbon technologies and has adopted PassivHaus as the default standard for all its new build projects. The role involves a portfolio of market‑leading projects requiring high levels of technical understanding.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead on the design and implementation of high‑quality construction projects.
* Prepare contract documents, billing, and contract administration.
* Certify contract payments and perform Designer/Principal Designer duties as per CDM Regulations.
* Embed renewable technologies into projects where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
You should be degree qualified in Building Surveying and a full member of a related professional body such as CIOB or RICS. Minimum requirements include:
* At least 5 years post‑qualification experience in building surveying, design and project/contract management.
* Proven record of working as part of a professional design team.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, NBS Specifications and building surveying design packages.
* Valid CSCS card.
* Experience with Retrofit design principles and renewable technology integration is an advantage.
