We're looking for a proactive and passionate Health & Safety professional to join our dedicated team. This field-based role is your chance to make a real impact across our mobile fleet operations – helping to protect 800 mobile technicians and vehicles throughout the UK. As a Field-Based Health & Safety Co-ordinator, you’ll be our eyes and ears on the ground, conducting unannounced spot-checks, inspections, and audits across our Commercial Fleet Services and Halfords Mobile Expert teams. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring compliance, improving safety behaviours, and driving cultural change through visible leadership and meaningful engagement. Your mission: embed a culture of safety that’s not just compliant, but proactive, practical, and people-focused. Key responsibilities Conduct unannounced field-based spot-checks, audits, and inspections across various sites including mobile operations, customer premises, and depots. Monitor and influence the behaviour of our 800-strong mobile workforce, ensuring safe working practices are consistently followed. Provide real-time, on-the-job advice based on trends and findings from the field. Collaborate with Health & Safety Business Partners to challenge and improve management systems and safe working practices. Support accident/incident investigations and provide clear, actionable reports to drive improvements and prevent reoccurrences. Highlight and celebrate examples of great practice to inspire positive change. Help shape and deliver the Halfords Group Health & Safety Roadmap. Design and deliver training and toolbox talks on key safety topics (e.g. risk assessments, vehicle safety, manual handling, PUWER, LOLER). Act as a trusted advisor to managers, technicians, and senior stakeholders across the business. About you Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or Coordinator role (ideally in commercial, automotive, or construction settings). Strong background in multi-site, cross-functional environments. NEBOSH General Certificate (or NVQ Level 5 equivalent). Proven experience with PUWER & LOLER. A track record of effective site inspections, audits, and behavioural engagement. High levels of independence, flexibility, and self-motivation.
