Job description
This is one of those opportunities that doesn’t come around often.
This is a Leicestershire-based business that’s genuinely going places. They’ve just closed a fresh PE round with ambitious new investors, they’re scaling fast (think 50% headcount growth), and they’re on a clear 3-4 year trajectory toward PLC. They’re experiencing significant revenue growth and international expansion is already underway.
Translation? You’re joining at exactly the right time—right at the start of the growth cycle, where you can actually shape what happens next.
What you’ll be walking into
The FD is relatively new, brilliant, and has a very hands-off leadership style. She’s not a micromanager—she’s an enabler. What she needs is a strong number two who can take ownership, manage upwards confidently, and put their own stamp on the function.
You’ll be leading a team of around 10 people (3 direct reports plus in directs), driving transformation alongside BAU, and working closely with new investors who want to see strategic thinking, not just tidy spreadsheets.
This isn’t a ‘keep the lights on’ role. You’ll be building a finance function that’s efficient, scalable, and ready for what comes next—whether that’s further growth rounds or an eventual exit.
What you’ll actually be doing
* Establishing financial strategy and controls that can scale with 50% headcount growth
* Leading post-transaction accounting, capital allocation, and cash management
* Building a finance team that’s investor-ready and operationally tight
* Being a strategic partner to the exec team and managing senior stakeholder relationships
* Bringing more of the finance function in-house (there’s a contract accountant at the moment)
* Oh, and working with some genuinely good people. Strong people leadership matters here.
Who this is for
* You’re a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who’s done this before—ideally in PE-backed or high-growth businesses. You know what investor scrutiny looks like, you’re comfortable with ambiguity, and you’re ambitious. Maybe you’re eyeing CFO roles down the line. Maybe you’re already interviewing for them.
* Either way, you want a role with genuine impact. You want to be part of something that’s building, not coasting.
The package: £90k–£110k base, Bonus, private medical, enhanced parental leave, 25 days + buy/sell, birthday day off, and all the usual PE-backed perks.
The setup: Hybrid (2 days in the office), flexible hours, modern workspace with a genuinely relaxed vibe.
This isn’t a cruise. It’s a high-growth business with new investors, big ambitions, and all the chaos that comes with scaling fast. If you...
