Ability to dismantle and reassemble operating tables and adding extra equipment as necessary. Assist in the positioning of patients on the operating table and correct placement of diathermy plate prior to the surgical procedure. Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique in relation to surgery and the operating field. Undertake surgical scrubbing, gowning and gloving procedures aseptically.
Assist with surgical skin preparation and draping. To provide assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures anticipating the needs of the surgeon and responding effectively. Assist in retracting tissue as per surgeons directive Assist in the use of electrocautery both monopolar and bipolar Assist with the closure of wounds once competency has been achieved Assist with application of appropriate dressings.
