JOB TITLE: Quality Controller

SALARY: Competitive

HOURS: 37 ½ hours per wk – Half day Friday’s.

LOCATION: Norwich, NR7

About the role:
As a key member of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Team, you will ensure ongoing success in implementation and continual improvement of the MSI Defence Systems (MSI-DS) processes, driving Customer satisfaction and business goals.
This role will be responsible for inspecting materials and products, identifying defects or deviations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role is key to maintaining customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

* Conducting product inspections within the operations process to ensure internal quality levels are achieved and maintained.
* Reporting, investigating and resolving issues identified from product inspections using the internal MSI-DS non-conformance processes.
* Assisting investigation processes relating to internal and external non-conformances relating to product quality.
* Liaison with the Design, Engineering and Operations teams as part of general product queries and non-conforming product investigation processes, where necessary.
* Assisting the implementation of action plans to ensure Quality performance improvement, where required.
* Maintaining and updating QMS documentation and databases.
* Inspection of products prior to shipment to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
* Production of Certificates of Conformity for products supplied to the Customer base, where required.
* Coverage of tasks undertaken by other Quality team members during holidays and absence, where applicable.
* Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role

About you:

Qualifications/ education

* Level 3 (ONC/ A levels/ Apprenticeship or equivalent) A* - C/ 4-9 in Mechanical Engineering

Technical skills/ experience

* Proven experience as a quality controller, inspector, or similar role in a manufacturing or production environment.
* Knowledge or understanding of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
* Ability to read detailed Engineering drawings and understand specifications
* Working with MRP/ERP database systems for business system management

* Good analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong inter-personal and communication skills, both written and verbal
* Collaborate effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating the ability to take initiative when needed
* Flexibility in working to meet task-based deadlines
* Willingness to learn and develop yourself through company specialist training.
* Excellent attention to detail.

Desirable

* Knowledge of Quality Management System Disciplines.
* Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
