Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to join us for the beginning of our journey at the newly renovated Black Lion in Skelton-on-Ure as we aim to create a top class gastropub, focusing on ever evolving menus, using locally sourced produce, preservation and nose to tail cooking, alongside a top quality drink offer including Barista made coffees, home crafted non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, wines and well kept real ales. Our aim is to gain recognition from the latter from CAMRA and Cask Marque for having a top quality, well kept ales.
The offer at the Black Lion will be varied, with changing menus throughout the day and a Farm shop offer to augment and compliment the pub. For this reason our ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and will be comfortable managing a multi-dimensional venue, particularly within food service. This role involves supporting the management team in daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of hygeine and quality. The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in supervising staff, managing kitchen and bar operations, and fostering a positive work environment.
Duties
* Assist in overseeing daily business operations to ensure efficiency and quality service.
* Supervise and train staff in front of house and serving procedures.
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the business.
* Ensure compliance with health regulations and company policies regarding food handling.
* Provide leadership and support to team members, promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.
* Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction.
* Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
* Participate in staff meetings to discuss performance, training needs, and operational improvements.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant or hospitality sector.
* Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation and cooking.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen management.
* Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on team management and development.
* Previous experience in hospitality roles such as barista or hotel service is advantageous.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service excellence.
* A passion for the food industry and commitment to delivering high-quality dining experiences.
