About us:
We are an experienced 6 vet team, led by practice owner and vet Helen. With vets from 1 years to 20 years post graduated experience we enjoy a lot of case discussion and support is never far away. Our vets work alongside a fantastic nursing team consisting of 7 RVNs, an SVN, and an experienced front of house team who are all encouraged to utilise their skills as much as possible which means our days run as smoothly as possible.
One area we place particular emphasis on is team well-being. This is demonstrated in the way our diary is arranged allowing you the time to think about and thoroughly work-up cases as well as taking the ‘down-time’ you need in the day. We have a beautiful garden area for the team to enjoy and an indoor colleague area for the colder days. We have a well-being board for the whole team for recognition and to organise social events for the whole team and have two mental health first-aiders in the team. We hold regular practice and vet meetings to allow everyone chance to input into our ways of working and have our own WhatsApp chat groups allowing for extra case discussion and an additional channel of support.
We are an RCVS accredited practice and have achieved ‘Outstanding’ status for ‘client service’ and for ‘team and professional responsibility’ from the RCVS in addition to our bronze ISFM accreditation. We are also an approved veterinary nurse training practice.
Our commitment to client care means we have a loyal and friendly client base with a good percentage of insured pets so get to keep cases in house where appropriate. We also welcome peripatetic orthopaedic surgeons, ultra-sonographers and cardiologists giving us continuity in practice too.
We also support lots of local community events including school visits, brownies and cubs helping to cement our local reputation.
The Role:
As a growing practice we are always interested in hearing from local talent interested in working with us, because everyone is at different stages in their veterinary career, we are open to speak to anyone. So, if you are an experienced vet looking to progress your career we can support further study or looking for a practice where you can mentor and support younger colleagues or a new graduate looking for their first role in a vet practice please talk to us.
This role is ideally for part time with 2 or 3 shifts per week, but we do ask that you join our 1 in 4 Saturday rota for which our opening hours are 9am - 5pm. There are no OOHs, Sundays or bank holidays with this role.
All sick pet consults are 30 minutes and your day will include allocated admin time giving the opportunity to focus on and work-up cases as well as meaning we can provide the excellent service to our clients that we have become known for. The only sole charge in this role would be on weekends where there would be remote ‘back-up’ should you feel you wanted it.
We offer a very competitive package including but not limited to:
* 5.6 weeks holiday (increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years service)
* Birthday Holiday
* Access to AXA healthcare and Cycle to work
* Relocation package (where applicable)
* Visa sponsorship
* Paid memberships (BVA, RCVS and VDS)
* Generous CPD allowance
* Exclusive discounts across the ‘Pets’ group and a wide selection of high street retailers via Our reward Hub
Our location:
Our practice is based in the City of York, a city with so much to offer. Whether you’re interested in history, want to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors or are a lover of city life this area has something for everyone and is also just a short drive from stunning North Yorkshire coastline. York is well serviced by transport links whether travelling by train or car and easily reached from 4 international airports.
If this sounds like the opportunity for you, please contact Rachael on northvet@vets4pets.com and someone will get back to you within 1 working day
Our team would also be happy to have an informal chat with anyone considering this role. If you’re based further afield, we would be happy to arrange a phone or video call to begin with.
Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
