Job Title: Relief Cleaning Operative (External) Working Hours: Zero hours Pay: £13.45 per hour Location: Port Solent, The Boardwalk, Portsmouth, PO6 4TP Reporting to: Contract Manager Overview We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Relief Cleaning Operative (External) to join our dedicated team at Port Solent. This is a varied, practical role in a busy outdoor environment, supporting the smooth running and cleanliness of a popular shopping and leisure destination. In this role, you will be responsible for a range of manual tasks including moving commercial waste bins, operating specialist equipment (such as a T300 scrubber dryer, kerb sweeper, gum removal machine, waste compactor and cardboard baler), and ensuring external areas are clean, safe and presentable. You will need to be comfortable with physical work, working outdoors in all weather, and using machinery safely. Full training will be provided. This is a dedicated relief position to provide site cover, therefore, the successful candidate must be flexible and available to cover annual leave, sickness absence, and other operational needs as required. Shifts start from 7:00am, so you must be able to reliably travel to Port Solent (PO6 4TP) for this start time. Key Responsibilities Clean and maintain designated outdoor areas in line with the site’s cleaning specifications. Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public areas, ensuring the site remains tidy, safe, and welcoming for all visitors. Empty waste and recycling bins, ensuring materials are sorted and disposed of appropriately. Respond promptly to spills or hazards to maintain a safe environment for visitors, tenants and staff. Operate a range of site-specific machinery and equipment, including the scrubber dryer, kerb sweeper, gum remover, and compacting/baling units. Carry out basic service road cleaning and maintenance duties as required. Provide friendly, helpful service to customers, tenants and visitors on site. Comply with all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations at all times. Support the wider site team when needed, maintaining a strong team ethic and positive attitude.
