Palmerston Road Surgery is a charming surgery in Buckhurst hill with a friendly team and a well established reputation for excellent patient care and quality healthcare experience. Due to retirement we are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our clinical team on a full time basis (part time also considered).
Are you an NMC registered Practice Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, ANP or currently in community or secondary care but would like to move to Primary Care? We might just be the place you're looking for.
Main duties of the job
The routine clinics will include general practice nurse appointments for things like (but not limited to):
* Smears
* Wound care
* Childhood Immunisations
* Asthma and COPD Reviews
* Vaccinations and Immunisations
* BP Checks
* Pill Checks
* Healthchecks
* ECGs
About us
We have 3 GP Partners. Our current Nursing team consists of a Nurse Practitioner with special interest in Diabetes and a Practice Nurse. We also have clinics on site with Physiotherapists, Dietitians and PCN Pharmacists. Our administration team includes 5 Receptionists and 2 Senior Administrators.
Palmerston Road Surgery has a great team, a positive and supportive PPG, and works closely with our PCN to deliver quality care at scale while remaining dedicated to our local population. With a small list of just under 5000 patients, we see patients remain with us for generations.

Practice Nurse Job Summary
Palmerston Road Surgery is seeking a qualified and experienced Practice Nurse to join our dedicated primary care team. The successful candidate will work autonomously and collaboratively with the practice team to provide high-quality care to our patient population.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Carry out Practice Nurse clinics supporting patients with a variety of needs including Smear tests, Immunisations, Vaccinations, Wound Care, Health checks, BP checks, Asthma checks, Travel Vaccinations and ECGs
* Provide evidence-based, person-centred care in line with NICE guidance and current best practice including accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using appropriate coding systems.
* Provide specialist clinics or services as agreed with the practice (e.g. long-term condition management, womens health, flu clinics).
* Provide expert clinical advice to patients, carers, and colleagues.
* Participate in clinical governance, risk management, and safeguarding responsibilities.
* Participate in QoF planning and reviews
* Participate in infection control governance and stock ordering
* Process PPA Claims
* Engage in continuing professional development and reflective practice.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered Healthcare Professional (e.g., RGN, HCPC registered)
Experience (Essential)
* Proven experience working as a Nurse with capabilities to carry out the key clinical requirements of a Practice Nurse
* Understanding and implementation of clinical governance and risk management
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and reflective practice
* Experience of working with multi-professional teams
* Interest in developing towards Nurse Practitioner
* Experience in or Interest in Diabetes
Additional Information
* The successful candidate must be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* This role requires a high degree of autonomy, professionalism, and clinical competence.
Flexibility to work some extended hours may be required in line with surgery needs
