Service Care Legal is currently recruiting on behalf of a North London Council for an experienced Locum Planning Lawyer to join their legal services team on a 12–month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with strong local government planning experience seeking an assignment within a supportive and well–established team. ROLE: Planning Lawyer LOCATION: North London CONTRACT: 12 Months, 36 hours per week RATE: GBP50–GBP55ph umbrella / GBP48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday ay / GBP43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday payPlease note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week. Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice and representation on planning, highways, and associated regulatory matters.
* Draft and negotiate Section 106 agreements, Section 278 agreements, and related planning obligations.
* Advise planning committees, officers, and stakeholders on complex planning applications and enforcement issues.
* Conduct and manage planning appeals, judicial review matters, and enforcement proceedings as required.
Person Specification
* Be a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales (or equivalent qualification) with a current practising certificate.
* Have substantial experience handling planning law matters within a local authority setting.
* Demonstrate strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in relation to Section 106 agreements.
* Be able to manage a varied caseload independently and provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to non–legal colleagues.
