AM Centre of Excellence (AM-COE)

About the Role

We're looking for a passionate, detail-oriented
3D Printing Lab Engineer & Project Assistant
to support our daily
R&D projects
and
production operations
. In this hands-on role, you will conduct print jobs from start to finish—including material preparation, printer operation, and post-processing of high-precision components. You'll also be responsible for conducting dimensional inspections (callipers, 3D scanners, and CMM), running basic materials tests, and maintaining detailed technical documentation.

This is an
entry-level research and operations support role
. Full training will be provided, after training, the ideal candidate must be confident to manage multiple tasks, work efficiently in a
fast-paced environment
, and support ongoing R&D and production projects alongside senior project managers, scientists, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

* Material preparation (ceramic/polymer) for 3D printing and testing.
* Operate and monitor 3D printers and other equipment.
* Post-process printed components: cleaning, sanding, support removal, surface finishing, and other manual operations.
* Conduct basic lab tests on raw materials and printed parts.
* Perform dimensional measurements using callipers, gauges, or 3D scanning tools.
* Record, analyse, and report experimental and production data.
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
* Support engineers and researchers during production trials and R&D activities.
* Manage daily task prioritisation across multiple active projects.
* Conduct, monitor, and review COSHH and H&S practices according to company policies.
* Generate and modify process documentation.
* Develop and maintain quality documentation and standard operating procedures/ work instructions.
* Any other relevant or related duties or ad hoc assignments as outlined and required by the Project Manager or wider business.

Requirements

* Degree in
Additive Manufacturing
,
chemistry, polymer science, or materials science
(Essential)
.
* Hands-on experience working with SLA Additive Manufacturing technology or other manufacturing equipment (Essential).
* Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
* Strong attention to details; Keen eye for detail to consistently deliver high-quality parts
* Excellent troubleshooting skills.
* Willingness to learn and proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.
