Teach Now are seeking a caring and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Reception pupil with autism (ASC) at a welcoming primary school in Hornchurch, Havering. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child’s learning journey, while gaining valuable SEN experience in a supportive setting.
The Role
• Provide 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with autism.
• Support learning, communication, and social interaction in class.
• Use strategies such as visual aids, routines, and positive reinforcement.
• Assist with personal care needs (toileting, hygiene, daily routines).
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans.
• Encourage independence and help build the child’s confidence.
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience supporting children with autism (EYFS or KS1 experience preferred).
• A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach to support.
• Confidence with personal care as part of the role.
• Strong communication skills and an understanding of SEN strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, visuals – desirable).
