A friendly primary school in Northamptonshire is recruiting an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join its KS1 phase from January 2026. The successful Year 1 Teacher will plan and deliver a sequenced Year 1 curriculum that secures strong foundations in phonics, early reading, writing and number. The post will commence January 2026, with induction activities in the weeks leading to January 2026 to ensure a smooth start for the new Year 1 Teacher. Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality Year 1 lessons that build conceptual understanding and fluency. Lead phonics sessions and early reading activities, adapting provision to meet individual needs. Use assessment effectively to set targets, run timely interventions and track progress. Collaborate with colleagues to moderate standards and develop cohesive medium-term plans. Maintain clear home–school communication to support pupils’ development. Person specification Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent and recent classroom experience teaching young children. Strong subject knowledge in early reading, phonics and number, with evidence of raising attainment. Excellent classroom management, organisational skills and a reflective approach to practice. Positive team player with a commitment to the school’s values and to working in Northamptonshire. Available to start in January 2026 and ready to contribute to school life across Northamptonshire.
