Overview
The Network Planning division is seeking a technically capable and collaborative Technician to join the Street Works and Temporary Traffic Management Team. The role involves co-ordinating activities in the highway, working with technical colleagues to deliver safe and reliable network management.
Responsibilities
* Operate temporary traffic management, road closures and temporary traffic signals in the highway, and approve abnormal load movements.
* Assess and review proposed works within the highway to ensure methods are suitable, safe and cause minimal disruption to the network.
* Work with senior technicians and technicians to ensure permit conditions are appropriate and adhered to, and resolve potential conflicts with other works on the highway.
* Support the operation of the Highways Network Information Centre, monitor Pre-emptive Traffic Management Systems, and use IT and messaging facilities to reduce disruption during unplanned incidents.
* Liaise with a range of stakeholders and develop key relationships.
Requirements
* A positive and constructive approach to problem solving with a strong emphasis on customer service and meeting customer needs.
* Ability to work collaboratively, operate under pressure, and manage several tasks simultaneously.
* Experience in traffic management, highway works assessment, or related technical fields preferred.
