12 month fixed term post to cover maternity leave

Salary: Band 7 (£50,861 - £59,159) or Band 6 (£41,608 - £50,702)

An opportunity has arisen within our Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital at Home service for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner to join the team for 12 months to support maternity leave cover. This role will support the H@H team to deliver safe, effective and person centred care to patients within the primary care setting. The role will predominantly focus on the Urgent and Unscheduled Care needs of the older adult population and the complex treatment and management of acutely unwell, palliative or frail patients including: nursing and care home residents.

It is recognised that as people live longer, services and the way we work together has to change if we are to continue to meet the needs and aspirations of our communities. In Fife Health and Social Care Partnership there is a recognition that having staff with the right knowledge and skills within the community is required to support patients to live long and healthy lives in their own home or in a homely environment.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner candidates must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice at Masters level and have been assessed as competent in this level of practice. Nurse Practitioners must hold Advanced clinical assessment and Decision Making module and preferably also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice (Level 11) Non-Medical prescribing.

You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work as a member of the wider Health and Social Care Team with the ability to work autonomously utilising your own initiative, clinical judgement and decision making. As this is a community post you will also be required to travel across Fife in a timely manner to attend to acutely unwell patients.

Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

For informal enquiries please contact Connie Henderson Lead ANP at connie.henderson3@nhs.scot or Jill Dow ICASS Manager at jill.dow@nhs.scot.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
