Our UK headquarters are in the Midlands, with a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and R&D activities in Abingdon and Coventry.
Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Key Account Manager (KAM) to be responsible for managing and growing strategic customer relationships within the Tier 1 automotive sector. This senior role drives revenue growth, ensures customer satisfaction, and aligns internal resources to meet customer needs. The KAM will oversee a team and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and R&D to deliver tailored solutions.
You’ll act as the primary point of contact, ensuring long-term client satisfaction and business growth. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align on strategic goals and to gather market intelligence to shape product development and long-term planning.

Responsibilities
* Develop and execute account strategies for high-value automotive OEMs
* Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring long-term relationship development and retention
* Establish an account management framework covering contracts, pricing, terms & conditions, and product warranties
* Create commercial contracts to underpin product requirements and deliverables
* Collaborate with Program Management to develop products and implementation plans
* Lead customer opportunities by understanding their business and technical requirements and articulating strategies and solutions
* Build close working relationships with internal and OEM stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor
* Work with R&D and Strategy teams to identify revenue ideas and convert them into leads and opportunities
* Support stakeholders with internal reporting, opportunity management, and capability building
* Coordinate with Operations, Program Managers and Partners to ensure seamless delivery
* Act as the customer’s point of escalation for ad-hoc issues
* Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and implement improvement plans
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of account managers and support staff
* Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and foster a high-performance culture
Qualifications and Experience
* Background in engineering or technical sales
* Professional certifications in account management or sales leadership
* Proven experience in key account management within Tier 1 automotive
* Familiarity with project management tools and software
* Good understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, manufacturing processes, and applications
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and self-confidence
* Experience establishing relationships with existing and new customers and acting as their trusted advisor
* Ability to articulate customer requirements to internal programme and technical teams
* Proven track record of managing multimillion-pound accounts and leading cross-functional teams
* Strong negotiation skills
* Experience working with cross-functional teams, often in multiple locations globally

* Experience of problem resolution using structured approaches
* Credibility within the account management environment and ability to influence others
