Support Worker – Supported Living (Autism Division)
Location: Sunderland
Hours: 2 x 37-hour positions available
Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Agency)
Sunderland Care and Support, a Local Authority-owned trading company, is seeking two Support Workers to join their Autism Division in providing high-quality, person-centred care to adults with complex needs in a supported living environment.
About the Role:
You will be working with individuals with autism and complex needs, helping them live as independently as possible within their home and the wider community. You will support them with their personal care needs, promote their safety and wellbeing, and encourage engagement in meaningful activities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting with personal care and hygiene
* Preparing meals and supporting nutrition
* Administering and recording medication
* Supporting with money management and domestic tasks
* Encouraging community participation and social inclusion
* Supporting trips, holidays, and educational/employment opportunities
* Providing emotional support and promoting skill development using active and positive behaviour support techniques
What We're Looking For:
We’re keen to hear from individuals who are:
* Compassionate, reliable, and respectful
* Able to empower individuals to achieve their potential
* Comfortable working in a rota-based role including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays
* Willing to undergo training in active support and PBS techniques
Essential Requirements:
* Enhanced Adults DBS (or willingness to obtain)
* Two satisfactory references
* Right to Work in the UK
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive
