The Position
Tax Specialist UK & IRL (Hybrid role 2/3days in the office)
The Position
The tax specialist will cover all UK and Irish taxes and will have a focus on tax compliance and reporting, with opportunities to be involved in advisory aspects. The position involves working closely and in collaboration with the business and the accounting services and tax functions locally and globally as well as external tax advisers.
Key responsibilities
* Support the management of the direct and indirect tax compliance processes (namely corporation tax, VAT, plastics tax), which are undertaken by the in house tax team, the accounting shared services centre and/or outsourced to external tax advisers ensuring all deadlines are adhered to
* Support the oversight of the monthly group and annual statutory accounts reporting processes as they relate to tax, which are undertaken by the accounting shared services centre ensuring all deadlines are adhered to
* Assist the team dealing with any tax enquires or queries from HMRC
* Support the team to provide tax guidance, advice and support across all taxes to the business and wider organisation
* Annual PSA preparation and submission (assisted by an external provider)
* Assist on various ad hoc tasks, projects and transactions including tax governance related issues
* Support the implementation of the Global tax policies, including transfer pricing
Essential qualities
* Experience in a multinational company either in a tax (preferable) or finance function with exposure to taxes, or from an accounting and tax services advisory firm
* Professional qualifications in tax (preferable) and accounting. Ideally both
* Good understanding of UK corporate tax and VAT
* Experience in transfer pricing, UK R&D and Irish taxes an advantage
* Works independently within guidelines and policies, with minimal guidance
* Good accounting knowledge and familiarity to use business IT systems – Microsoft Office, SAP 4/HANA and Google etc
* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
* Process oriented and problem solving mind set, attention to detail
* Communication skills both providing information and gathering information, ability to create network inside and outside of the finance and taxes area
