QTS PSHE Teacher - SEN Secondary School - Full-Time - Aylesbury Are you a passionate and qualified PSHE Teacher with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are working with a well-established SEN secondary school in Aylesbury seeking a QTS-qualified Teacher to join their team full-time. This exciting role involves a mix of 1:1 tuition for a Year 9 student, as well as delivering PSHE, RE, and other related subjects to small groups of Year 9 pupils throughout the rest of the week. About the School Based in Aylesbury, this specialist secondary school caters to students aged 11-18 with a range of learning difficulties, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and associated social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). The school's curriculum is adapted to meet the diverse needs of its pupils, with a strong emphasis on life skills, personal development, and functional learning. The Role - PSHE Teacher (QTS) This is a full-time teaching position in Aylesbury, with duties split between: 1:1 tutoring for a Year 9 student with bespoke academic and emotional needs. Planning and delivering PSHE, RE, and other personal development topics to small groups of Year 9 pupils. Supporting students in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and appropriate social behaviours. Contributing to a holistic curriculum that builds confidence, resilience, and independence. Key Responsibilities: As the PSHE Teacher, you will: Deliver engaging and differentiated PSHE and RE lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of SEN learners. Build positive relationships with students that promote trust, self-esteem, and motivation. Use a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to teaching. Monitor and assess pupil progress against EHCP outcomes and curriculum goals. Collaborate with Learning Support Assistants, SENCOs, and the wider pastoral team. Create a classroom culture that is safe, supportive, and inclusive for all students. Adapt teaching strategies to meet sensory, behavioural, or communication challenges. Essential Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Experience teaching PSHE, RE, or related subjects is required. Previous work in an SEN or alternative provision setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of MLD, ASC, and SEMH and how these needs present in a classroom environment. Strong behaviour management skills, with a calm, empathetic, and consistent approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a solution-focused mindset.
