Technical Coordinator
Ilkley Brickwork | Design-Led Construction
Location: Bradford HQ (Hybrid- Office and site)
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000 per annum + CPD support
Reports to: Operations Lead
Works closely with: Lead Designer, Site Team, Structural Engineers, Design Team
The Role
You’ve built your 10,000 hours. Now you’re looking for a role where you can step up, take real responsibility, and help deliver outstanding residential construction work — safely, efficiently, and without surprises.
As Technical Coordinator, your role is to turn vision into execution. Working across structural, planning, and interior design, you’ll ensure that everything a project needs to be built right — from sequencing to safety — is thought through before it hits site.
You’ll also play a vital role in protecting the customer experience. Construction can be overwhelming, full of technical disagreements, back-and-forth, and unclear language. Your job is to shield the customer from that stress — making sure their project flows clearly, cleanly, and confidently without them being pulled into unnecessary technical friction.
This is not a caretaker role. This is a builder’s role. A systems role. A get-it-done-right role — in service of the customer, the team, and the end result.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction Technical Delivery
● Collaborate with designers, engineers, and operations to finalise build methodology
● Prepare build-ready packs including:
○ Construction sequencing
○ Structural details and method statements
○ Site-specific installation notes
● Ensure Building Regs, CDM, and engineering requirements are integrated into every job
Site Readiness & Support
• Conduct technical handovers to the site team
• Support the Operations Lead to deliver on time and budget
• Be the point of contact for on-site technical clarification — especially around structural works, Helifix, lintels, and SIPs
Design & Engineering Alignment
● Work closely with the Lead Designer to protect the integrity of design while ensuring it’s buildable and safe
● Resolve technical conflicts between architectural intent and construction reality
● Ensure planning and engineering constraints are handled proactively — not passed downstream
Systems & SOP Creation
● Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for repeatable project types such as:
○ Lintel replacements
○ Structural openings
○ Extensions
○ Retaining walls
○ Interior fit-outs
● Note: This list is not exhaustive — your job is to identify, systemise, and improve processes across all common and emerging job types
● Build and maintain an internal technical library: drawings, checklists, sequencing diagrams, material specs, risk points
About You
● 5–7 years in a technical construction role (site, design, or coordination)
● Degree or HNC/HND in Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or Construction Management
● Confident reading and producing technical drawings
● Strong working knowledge of Building Regs, sequencing, materials, and structural systems
● Comfortable communicating with both creatives and trades
● Proactive, methodical, and ready to own results
● Not a talker. A doer.
● Clear promotion pathway to Senior Technical Coordinator / Technical Manager (£40K+)
● Tools and training budget available as role grows
What Success Looks Like
● Jobs hit site ready to build — no scrambling, no missing details
● The design team feels supported, not slowed down
● The site team feels equipped, not guessing
● Projects land on time, on budget, and without avoidable issues
● You’ve helped standardise and improve how we build, not just responded to problems
