CONTRACT TYPE: Attachment / Fixed-term Contract - Full time until 19 February 2027
DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, BBC West
LOCATION: Bristol (Office based)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £41,200 - £47,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We need a skilled sub-editor to make our regional content for the BBC News website shine. Do you think you can add the extra little bit of sparkle to a story to make it stand out from the crowd? Can you craft an amazing headline, thrive under pressure in a breaking news environment and help coach people to write brilliant copy? If so, we want to hear from you.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
BBC West's online stories are read by millions every week. You'll be working on some of the biggest stories from a varied patch. One week you could be in charge of a live page covering cheese rolling, and the next covering some of the huge breaking stories that happen here. There are opportunities to work cross-platform in a newsroom that is also home to regional TV news programme Points West and BBC Radio Bristol.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Subbing content for the BBC News website
* Providing feedback to journalists
* Ensuring editorial and style guidelines are adhered to
* Taking decisions as editorial lead on some days, on rota basis
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* At least 3-5 years of experience working in a newsroom
* Experience of subbing for a news website
* Ability to sub breaking news
* Working in a multimedia environment
* Extensive digital knowledge
