1 month contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Family Support Worker (Grade 4) to join their team on a temporary contract from 09/02/2026 to 20/03/2026.
• This role offers the opportunity to work with families to support children’s welfare and development, contributing to the Trust’s Good Ofsted-rated services.
• The position is full-time, 36.5 hours per week, based at One Avenue, Birmingham, with regular working hours of 08:45–17:15.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide practical support, guidance, and advice to children and families in line with Trust policies.
• Assist in assessing family needs and implementing support plans.
• Work collaboratively with social workers, schools, and other agencies to promote positive outcomes for children.
• Deliver interventions aimed at improving parenting skills, family relationships, and child wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate case notes and records, ensuring compliance with Trust and statutory requirements.
• Attend meetings and contribute to multi-agency team discussions and reviews.
• Support children and families in crisis situations, providing guidance and signposting to appropriate services.
• Monitor and evaluate progress against set goals and outcomes.
Skills/Experience:
• Previous experience in family support, social care, or children’s services.
• Knowledge of child welfare, safeguarding, and child protection legislation.
• Ability to assess family needs and implement appropriate interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including working with vulnerable families.
• Experience in multi-agency working and collaboration with external organisations.
• Competent in record keeping and report writing in line with statutory requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
• Empathy, patience, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
