Job Description
Job Purpose
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be working in a working shipyard and will be responsible for the mechanical upgrade, repair and refit in relation to projects on site. Duties to (include but not limited to) - installation and removal of mechanical equipment, operation of machinery and inspections/monitoring during operation. Alignment of machinery and drive chain to set tolerances using optical equipment. Machining and milling of small ad hoc parts required for equipment removal /installation.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Dismantle and re-assemble mechanical assemblies.
* Inspect equipment and identify faulty components.
* Carry out preventative maintenance work on plant and equipment.
* Align equipment to set tolerances
* Test pipework and systems, commission systems.
* Assist other disciplines when required.
* Experience with overhead cranes and lifting equipment
* Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

* Follows and adhere to any control measures required under the Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
* Ensure good house-keeping of work areas at all times.
QUALITY
* Undertake inspection of parts, sub-assemblies and finished products to ensure dimensional accuracy, quality and solid working function.
* Support the company in maintaining and improving our ISO 9001 (quality), 14001 (environmental), 45001 (health and safety) standards through adherence to the
* H&W Management Systems this is the responsibility of all H&W employees when conducting all processes and activities.
Qualifications
Essential
* Time served mechanical fitter either in a shipyard or similar field activity where refit work was undertaken. · Relevant qualification, indentured apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds etc.
* Understanding of dimensional control techniques such as Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM).
* Understanding of engineered drawings and technical documents. · Knowledge and compliance of work place safety.
* Work execution independently according to valid instructions, rules and other standards.
