We have an exciting opportunity to join our Museum Gardens Team on a full time basis to help care for, maintain and develop the Garden and provide support for other activities in the Garden as required.
We are looking for a positive, proactive and flexible individual with experience of working in a horticultural environment to work in a supervisory operational capacity in the Garden, leading the Team in their day to day activity under direction from the Garden Manager. The candidate will have good plant knowledge, have a clear understanding of seasonal horticultural tasks, possess significant experience of using garden machinery and driving a tractor, have knowledge of growing plants in protected environments and be a strong communicator. The role involves working outdoors all year round and interacting with the public on a regular basis delivering talks and tours.
You will have supervisory and/or line management experience and be comfortable leading, coordinating and working alongside the team to accomplish general gardening duties and deliver project work in line with the Garden strategy. Experience of working with volunteers would be advantageous but not essential.
Word and Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and produce basic reporting is required.
Working days are 5 over 7 with the need for flexibility working with the other Garden Duty Manager to ensure there is Supervisory presence in place for the team at all times.
