Requirements
Pre-Employment Checks/Requirements for Teaching Positions
If successful, employment will be conditional upon satisfactory completion of pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, two written references (one from your current or most recent employer), verification of qualifications, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) and a satisfactory PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are also mandatory.

Applicants for permanent positions must be fully registered with GTCS. More information is available at: www.gtcs.org.uk
Regulated Work with Children
This position involves Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. Successful candidates will need a PVG Scheme membership, which involves a fee (£59 for full membership or £18 for record update) that will be deducted from salary over several pay periods. Existing employees will have the fee paid by the Council. If employment ends before full repayment, the remaining amount will be deducted from the final salary. Applicants must disclose any unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, with details provided confidentially. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant, as decisions depend on the nature of the offence and the position.
