Our research and development client specializes in electric motors, controllers, and inverters for various applications. They are looking to recruit two Senior Electronics Engineers (Production) for AC/DC and DC/DC to join their Electronics Engineering team.
Job Description
Purpose
The Senior Electronic Engineer is an integral member of the project team responsible for delivering development projects of varying size and complexity. The Senior Electronics Engineer is responsible for power electronics hardware design on multiple projects, including control, sensing, communications, and thermal requirements, under the direction of the Lead Electronics Engineer, taking designs into production.
The role reports to the Lead Electronics Engineer.
Duties
Working closely with the Engineering team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Assisting the lead electronics engineer with project timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
Liaising with firmware team to ensure coding standards are met and resources are aligned to project requirements.
Designing AC/DC converters, applying low voltage battery charging to specifications. Taking designs from concept to manufacturing/certification using company processes.
Leading manufacturing processes for AC/DC designs, including FMEA, DFM/DFA, and verification and validation plans/reports.
Conducting feasibility studies for new technical innovations.
Supporting test engineers during testing phases. Developing and verifying designs against specifications, writing detailed test plans, and completing reports aligned with verification and validation processes.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of the standard design process.

Developing power electronics for AC/DC converters, battery charging, and integration into motor controllers.
Ensuring project deliverables meet plans, assessing resource needs, and communicating updates.

Qualifications
Degree in engineering or relevant experience. Chartered status or equivalent preferred.
Experience
Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of various power converter topologies, battery chemistries, simulation tools (Simulink, Matlab, LTSpice), and electronics CAD software (preferably Altium).
Understanding of thermal management, NPI processes, and EMC compliance.
Experience with AC/DC topologies, 3-phase systems, bidirectional systems, and magnetic design is advantageous.
Skills/Abilities
