An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to join the Haematology / Oncology Day Unit which is situated in the VHK. The hours of working are 0800-1530 on a Sunday only.
Applicants must have a keen interest in working in the day unit setting and be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to nursing care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role, alongside a keen interest and understanding of cancer care delivery. A good level of IT skills are required.
The successful applicant will support the registered nursing staff in their delivery of chemotherapy and supportive care to patients with Haematology/Oncology disorders and should be educated to a minimum of SVQ level II in healthcare and be willing to undertake SVQ Level 3 if not already achieved. They should be able to carry out venipuncture as this is an essential skill for this role. This post involves autonomous working but with nearby support.
