Job Description
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated Adult Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation team based in Nottingham City. This locum role offers the chance to work within a forward-thinking and supportive NHS team, delivering high-quality care to patients with a range of complex neurological conditions.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working in inpatient settings and be confident in independently managing a neuro rehab caseload. You’ll be a vital part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to effective care planning and supporting timely and safe discharges.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adult inpatients with neurological conditions.
2. Manage a complex and varied caseload independently within an acute or rehab setting.
3. Work closely with the wider MDT to deliver coordinated and patient-centred care.
4. Participate actively in discharge planning, ensuring safe and timely transitions from hospital to home or onward care.
5. Identify and respond to patients who are acutely unwell or showing signs of deterioration.
6. Adapt and prioritise workload effectively in response to changing clinical needs throughout the day or week.
7. Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with professional and NHS documentation standards.
Essential Requirements
* HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
* Previous NHS experience working in adult inpatient settings.
* Strong background in neurological rehabilitation.
* Able to work autonomously and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Proven ability to identify clinical deterioration and escalate appropriately.
* Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and time management skills.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload flexibly and independently.
Desirable Experience
* Familiarity with stroke rehab, traumatic brain injury, or progressive neurological conditions.
* Experience with NHS discharge planning processes and community referrals.
* Proficient in using assessment tools such as MoCA, FIM, AMPS, or similar.
