Salary: £44,883 - £57,348 (Outer London Weighting included; scale points 26-34)
Contract: Fixed term from October 2025 to end-of-October 2026.
Location: London Borough of Redbridge
Closing date for applications: Monday 15th September 2025 at 5pm
Interview date: Tuesday 23rd September (venue in Redbridge: TBC)
Background
Family Psychology Mutual CIC has been awarded a Youth Endowment Fund grant for an efficacy Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) for Functional Family Therapy for Extra-Familial Harm (FFT-EFH). This has been granted after a successful pilot RCT that took place in Redbridge to test out the ability of the intervention to adapt and deliver in a UK context and achieve outcomes for children aged 10 to 17 who are considered at risk of gang involvement and criminal exploitation. The project is delivered in collaboration with the London Boroughs of Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, and Haringey. There are three established FFT-EFH teams, operational since January 2024. Each team consists of a Clinical Supervisor, two or three FFT workers and a part-time (0.8 FTE) Business Support Officer. The teams are embedded within their assigned London Borough where there is close interagency collaboration, joint working, and the use of shared data systems.
About you
We are seeking a dedicated and suitably qualified professional to join the established Redbridge FFT team. As an FFT-EFH worker, you will have the opportunity to deliver rigorous clinical interventions in the homes of children, addressing extra-familial risks and providing vital support to families with complex needs. A suitable candidate for this role will be an Applied Psychologist, a Social Worker, a Mental Health Nurse, and/or a Systemic Family Therapist. You will be committed to collaborative partnership working and have experiences undertaking risk assessments. This position requires out-of-hours and flexible working to meet the availability of families. Appreciation of the local demography and culture will be valuable.
About the role
In this role, you will deliver intensive, whole-family interventions in young people's homes over the course of 3 to 6 months with a caseload of up to 6 families. Referrals are made by participating Boroughs for young people between the ages of 10 and 17 who are considered at risk of gang involvement and criminal exploitation. You will be trained in the FFT-EFH clinical model and supported through weekly clinical consultations, individual supervision, and a defined training plan.
You will receive additional follow-up training in the FFT-EFH model throughout the duration of the project and develop expert knowledge in county lines and child criminal exploitation (CCE). There are opportunities to learn from our existing FFT sites in Norfolk and Suffolk and the whole project is programme managed by an experienced FFT Supervisor and Family Therapist. The three London teams come together to do joint skills training, which provides opportunities to share experiences and learn new skills with colleagues.
