The successful candidate will work 4 days per week in a split role. Primary responsibilities include decontamination support for Cath labs and supporting the TOE service from C602 Day Case. Duties cover daily checks, cleaning of TOE probes, monitoring training and service records, equipment checks, record keeping and safety. The role also involves assisting patients with observations, equipment provision, transfer and supporting the team.
Responsibilities
* Provide decontamination support to Cath labs, including equipment checks and record keeping.
* Clean and maintain TOE probes and decontamination room.
* Assist with observations, equipment provision, patient transfer, and support the TOE service.
* Maintain accurate documentation and service records.
* Implement safety procedures, report incidents, and cooperate with investigations.
* Participate in team meetings, share best practice, and provide training when required.
* Support clinical areas preparation and maintenance for service delivery.
* Engage in continual professional development, appraisals, and audits.
Job Description
The Clinical Decontamination Assistant is a member of the direct care team who supports practitioners to meet patient needs. They oversee the Cath Lab decontamination service, work with various clinical teams to provide safe equipment, maintain accurate records, and oversee equipment servicing and maintenance. Responsibilities also encompass providing care and therapy to patients as delegated by the Registered Nurse or appropriate team leader. Tasks include reporting to senior Registered Nurse, working under Cath Lab Manager and Cath Lab Sister, and providing compassionate care to agreed quality standards.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Training
* NVQ level 3/ QCF Level 3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent, or working towards.
* GCSE A*-C in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
* Experience as a nursing/care assistant in a health or social care setting.
* Experience working in an Acute Hospital setting.
* Experience in a Decontamination service.
Essential Skills and Abilities
* Effective verbal and written communication.
* Teamwork and documentation accuracy.
* Awareness of healthcare policies and procedures.
* Caring patient manner and professional confidentiality.
* IT skills (basic word processing, email, keyboard, data collection).
