Electromechanical Fitter / Installer

40 hours per week, days, early finish Friday
60/40 split Workshop/Field-based- UK & international (mainly USA/Canada) - some projects can be a week to several weeks at a time
The Role
Working both in-house and on customer sites, youll play a key role in assembling, installing, and commissioning automation machinery and systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, variety, and travel.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager (in-house) and the Services Director (on-site), youll take ownership of mechanical builds, assist with electrical connections, and ensure every system is delivered to the highest standards.
Typical duties include:
* Mechanical assembly of automation systems, conveyors, and control equipment
* Installation and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and method statements
* Supporting system commissioning and customer training
* Ensuring all work meets quality and health & safety standards
* Occasional international travel for installation and commissioning (mainly USA/Canada)
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
* Apprentice-trained or qualified Mechanical and/or Electrical Fitter
* Competent using a wide range of hand and power tools
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work independently
* Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
* Excellent communication skills and customer-facing confidence
* Full UK driving licence (max. 3 penalty points)
* Ability to travel and work away from home (UK & overseas)
Desirable:
* Electrical wiring experience (advantageous but not essential)
* Experience working in hygienic or food-grade environments
* Familiarity with pneumatic systems, valves, and medium-sized assemblies
* British/EU passport holder (must be eligible for USA/Canada travel)
