A large and inclusive secondary school located close to Headingley, Leeds is seeking a committed and experienced Teaching Support Assistant to join its dedicated onsite provision team as soon as possible. This full-time role involves working closely with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing both group and 1:1 support in a structured and supportive environment.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be part of a specialist team within the school's onsite provision, supporting pupils who require additional help to access mainstream education. The role involves working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions and consistent support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality support to pupils with SEMH and SEN needs, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
* Assist in the implementation of individual learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
* Support pupils in managing emotional regulation, social interaction, and academic engagement.
* Work closely with teaching staff to adapt lesson materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to review meetings and reports.
* Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required.
Candidate Requirements:
* Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils in a support capacity is essential.
* Strong understanding of SEMH and SEN support strategies.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEND, behaviour management, or mental health support are advantageous.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations.
* Must be able to drive or reliably use public transport to access the school site.
