Relationship Manager, Business Banking – Birmingham

Our Business Banking team provides comprehensive support to SMEs, helping them expand and manage their cash and trade flows. We are seeking a proactive, customer-focused Relationship Manager to join this team.
This role involves managing a portfolio of clients, providing dedicated customer service, and being responsible for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery. The role requires engagement with both external clients and internal teams such as Sales, Product Development, and Risk & Compliance.
Responsibilities include:
* Conducting face-to-face meetings with 50-70 SME clients
* Managing portfolio incomes of approximately £1.5 - £2m and SME clients with a £2-15m turnover
* Driving revenue growth by understanding customer needs and adopting a needs-based approach
* Expanding the portfolio and strengthening client relationships through HSBC's extensive network
* Understanding clients' businesses and industries to provide insights and deliver fair outcomes
* Performing proactive credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience in Business/Corporate Banking or Financial Services is advantageous
* Proven ability to identify and meet customer needs
* Experience in commercial lending is beneficial
* Excellent customer service skills and innovative approach to service improvement
* Ability to build effective networks and develop trust-based relationships
* Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, covering the Greater Birmingham area, requiring face-to-face meetings with clients three days a week.
