Overview
West Coast Tree Surgeons are seeking an experienced and dedicated Tree Surgeon/Team Leader to join our workforce. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in arboriculture, with strong leadership skills to manage and inspire a crew of groundsmen and trainee tree surgeons. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, practical skills, and a commitment to safety while working in a variety of outdoor environments.
Key Duties
* Carry out a full range of tree surgery tasks including pruning, reductions, felling, dismantling, stump grinding, and hedge trimming.
* Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess health, identify hazards, and recommend appropriate action.
* Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other arboricultural machinery.
* Supervise daily site operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
* Coach, mentor, and develop grounds staff and trainee tree surgeons to build skills and confidence.
* Perform vehicle and equipment checks, ensuring trucks, chippers, and other machinery are well maintained and compliant.
* Carry out risk assessments and adhere to health & safety procedures at all times.
* Interact professionally with clients, the public, and contractors, maintaining a positive company image.
* Respond to emergency call-outs when required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in tree surgery.
* NPTC/LANTRA qualifications in chainsaw use, climbing, and aerial rescue (essential).
* Full UK driving licence.
* Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in all weather conditions.
* Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
* A positive, professional approach with strong communication skills.

Pay: £31,200.00-£37,440.00 per year
