An exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Band 7 neonatal Sister/Charge Nurse in our newly redesignated Level 2 Neonatal Unit. Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical leadership and supervision to the nursing team in the neonatal unit, ensuring high standards of care are delivered at all times.
* Oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care for neonates, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
* Mentor and support nursing staff through ongoing education, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, allied health professionals, and families, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
* Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with local and national standards.
* Provide emotional support and education to families, helping them understand their infant’s condition and care plan.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills in neonatal resuscitation and critical care.
* Lead and manage a team of nurses, including absence management, identifying training and development needs, and completing appraisals.
* Ensure all incidents are reported and documented as per the Trust’s Risk Management Policy.
* Support the Neonatal Matron in recruitment and retention where required and directed.
* Develop ward/unit policies and guidelines and ensure these are implemented and audited to ensure compliance and best practice.
* Be flexible in the work schedule to provide cross cover where and when needed.
* Cross-site cover at the Chelsea and Westminster NICU site may be required.
* Weekend shifts at multiple sites may be required.
* Identify and investigate issues of conduct, discipline and performance within the team and liaise with HR.
