HGV Coachbuilder/Bodybuilder
Location: Leeds
Hours: Monday to Friday days - 45 hours; £15.50 - £17.50 per hour
1 in 2 Saturdays
Overtime rate paid at 1.5 after 40 hours
My client is a fleet maintenance company with 50 years of establishment. They have 2 depots across the UK and offer a wide range of services. Due to their continued success, they are now seeking a skilled Coachbuilder/Bodybuilder to join their growing team.
Key Responsibilities of the Coachbuilder/Bodybuilder
1. Design, fabricate, and assemble vehicle bodies and frames, including custom parts and panels.
2. Restore and repair vehicles to original design while maintaining functionality and safety.
3. Utilize traditional and modern metalworking tools (e.g., welding, cutting, shaping, riveting) to build and modify vehicle bodies and structural components.
4. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
5. Work alongside other skilled tradespeople, such as engineers, painters, upholsterers, and electricians, for seamless vehicle body repair and restoration.
6. Inspect work for precision, accuracy, and quality, ensuring adherence to company and industry standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Qualified or time served with proven experience in coachbuilding, metalworking, or a similar trade (e.g., vehicle restoration, fabrication) on HGVs.
* Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g., welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools).
* Knowledge of different materials and their applications in vehicle bodywork, including metals, composites, and plastics.
* A problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and adapt during complex build or restoration projects.
* Excellent attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision.
