About the Role

This role is based at the project office in Assington and will support the BTNO project – a critical infrastructure upgrade that reinforces the electricity network between Bramford and Twinstead to support increased power generation and transmission as the UK transitions to net zero.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a key member of the BTNO project team, you will be responsible for delivering activities outlined in the project communication and community engagement plan. Your core duties include:
* Manage delivery of an impactful communications plan, ensuring that all content is written in Plain English, delivered on time and approved by all relevant parties before publishing.
* Ensure accurate stakeholder data and segmentation is available and continually managed in line with GDPR.
* Manage an ongoing pipeline of content to successfully deliver a monthly project newsletter.
* Coordinate and participate in project‑led community relations events to raise awareness of project impact, milestones and successes – including public exhibitions, community meetings and community liaison working groups.
* Manage delivery of agreed site visit programme, identifying opportunities to showcase expertise, raise profiles and build trust with the local community, customers and partners.
* Work closely with project managers and BB Helpline/client customer service teams to facilitate resolution of project‑related enquiries/complaints promptly and professionally.
* Work closely with the project operational teams to identify and understand future activities which may need stakeholder engagement.
* Ensure project site(s) branding, hoarding and information boards comply with Balfour Beatty brand guidelines and are regularly updated as required.
* Write internal and external award submissions and case studies to promote our people and project.
* Ensure project communication channels, tools and platforms are regularly reviewed and updated with appropriate content – SharePoint site, digital totems, distribution lists, presentation packs, etc.
* Work closely with National Grid and Balfour Beatty Group’s communications teams to talk positively about project successes and key milestones.
* Work with the project leadership team to coordinate employee recognition activities to highlight positive customer accolades, behaviours and operational milestones.
* Co‑ordinate project registration with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and production of the site log book.
* Coordinate production of photographs and videos to demonstrate project progress and achievement.
* Ensure basic budget cost controls for stakeholder engagement and communications activities.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential
* Experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field.
* Able to demonstrate a track record in delivering a positive and professional customer experience.
* Confident engaging with external customers and stakeholders face‑to‑face.
* Able to manage conflict with diplomacy and empathy to ensure a mutual outcome.
* Excellent writing, storytelling, presentation skills and a good eye for detail.
* Able to interpret technical principles and information from a variety of sources and translate into simple and engaging communications.
* Team player who adapts positively to changing stakeholder demands.
* A self‑starter with strong organisational skills who can work independently, manage conflicting deadlines and report on outcomes with clarity.
* A full driving licence and willingness to travel.
* Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications.
Desirable
* A bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education/industry‑recognised qualification in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
* Member of CIPR, IOIC, CIM or other recognised industry body.
* Experience working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects.
* Good understanding of the regulatory environment in construction / power transmission and distribution industries.
