Based in Grasmere and connected to The Heaton Cooper Studio art gallery, Mathilde's is a well-known and highly regarded award winning gallery café. With a focus on an exceptional Scandinavian-inspired menu, and all-day dining. We are looking for a confident and outgoing all-rounder. This is a superb opportunity for a creative kitchen professional, who wants to work in a collaborative environment where they will have the encouragement and opportunity to stamp their mark on an ambitious food operation. We are an accredited Small Green business, and 4th generation Independent family business. There are no split shifts, this is daytime only hours, working on a rota system to cover seven days a week including bank holidays. we close over Christmas.
Job Summary
Working only daytime shifts, you will support our head chef to deliver consistently high quality food, while maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment that maintains our 5* hygiene rating. You'll be efficient and diligent in your work and thrive in a very busy kitchen, under pressure.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Fully responsible for daily set-up, operation and close-down of directed section
· Ensure consistent delivery and presentation of high-quality food items
· Maintenance of cleanliness, organisation, stock control and hygiene of section
· Assist with ordering and menu development
· Work and assist other chefs, while maintaining motivation and focus
· Take part in development & training activities as required
· Keep recipes up-to date and in order, with keen focus on allergen requirements
· Assist with food-waste prevention and sustainable practice development
· Be an exceptional team-player, managing relationships and communicating positively at all times

· Strong catering background, with a genuine enthusiasm for high quality food
· Desire to succeed within a small team and ambitious business
· Great communicator, able to manage relationships across the business
· Positive outlook and personality, with ability to show initiative in a small team
· Focused eye for detail, who brings pride to every aspect of the role.
