Are you looking to build your skills in a busy print environment and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team? We're looking for a Press Assistant to support the Lithographic Printer in running our Heidelberg XL Printing Press, ensuring materials are prepared, organised and ready for production. It’s a hands-on position where attention to detail really matters — from checking plates against print lists to maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety. With full supervision and ongoing support, you’ll also get involved in routine maintenance and the operation of key handling equipment.
This position works on a rotating three‑shift system, covering Early (6am–2pm), Late (2pm–10pm) and Night (10pm–6am) shifts, rotating weekly.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In this role, you will support the smooth and effective operation of the Heidelberg XL feeder and its logistics systems. You will work closely with the Lithographic Printer and play an active part in creating a positive and collaborative team environment. The position also involves operating Fork Lift Trucks, electric pallet trucks and pallet turners safely and confidently as part of everyday activity.
A key part of the job is maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and helping to promote strong Health & Safety practices across the department. You will request stock from the warehouse when required and make sure all materials are prepared correctly for each print run. You will also ensure that every printing plate matches accurately with the print list issued by the production planner. In addition, you will carry out supervised maintenance tasks that support the smooth operation of the press.
What We're Looking For:
1. Training in pallet turner operation (or willingness to complete).
2. A valid Fork Lift Truck Licence.
3. Electric Pallet Truck Licence.
4. A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn.
5. Good understanding of manufacturing or print environments (desirable but not essential).
6. Strong awareness of housekeeping standards and Health & Safety principles.
