As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in the Pelvic Health and Urogynaecology Service at Milton Keynes University Hospital, you will lead assessment and treatment of bladder and prolapse conditions, working with obstetric and gynaecological patients in an outpatient setting. The role is a secondment that requires you to manage an autonomous caseload, perform comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessments and deliver individualised treatment plans while supporting junior staff and contributing to clinical audit and service development.


Responsibilities

* Provide physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, including obstetric and gynaecological patients.
* Provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
* Be responsible for own caseload within a defined clinical area or patient type, working without direct supervision but with support available from a senior physiotherapist.
* Utilise the expertise of senior staff to develop skills and knowledge and consolidate learning.
* Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
* Train and develop junior staff and midwives in pelvic health knowledge.
* Undertake evidence-based audit to further own and team’s clinical practice. Make recommendations to Manager / Team Leader regarding changes to practice and/or service policies and protocols. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
* Represent therapies as a visible, knowledgeable, confident, supportive, and high performing professional group.


Qualifications

* Must be able to demonstrate the skills acquired with successful completion of Band 5 rotations in a variety of clinical areas.
* Band 6 physiotherapist, preferably with some experience in Pelvic Health and affiliate membership of POGP.
* Keen interest and desire to learn and develop new skills within a small team is vital.
* Current HCPC registration and recognised qualification as a Physiotherapist.

Clinically you will be responsible for a mixed caseload of both obstetric and gynaecological (uro‑gynae) patients from GP and Consultant referrals, mainly within an outpatient setting. In addition, there are daily visits to the maternity and labour wards treating obstetric patients by members of the team. As a ‘Fast Follower’ of the NHS Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Service, confidence in promoting pelvic health and awareness is essential and will involve communication and relationship building with Maternity services, primary care and patients, as well as excellent communication skills with the MDT.
